Established in Geneva in 2013, the United Music Foundation is recognized for its expertise in preserving and enhancing recorded musical heritage.

As a private non-profit foundation with public utility recognition and tax-exempt status, it is monitored by the ASFIP (Supervisory Authority for Foundations and Pension Institutions).

Since its inception, the United Music Foundation has preserved several thousand recordings at risk of disappearing, unveiling numerous treasures from iconic artists.

Its work has been honored with two national awards: the Best Reissue Award from the Académie du Jazz (Paris, France), and the Memoriav – Swiss Commission for UNESCO Award (Bern, Switzerland).

A vital witness to our culture and history, recorded musical heritage nonetheless remains critically endangered due to the ongoing deterioration of recording media, the obsolescence of playback equipment, and the gradual disappearance of specialized technical skills essential for its preservation.

Faced with the loss of countless invaluable recordings, UNESCO established the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving global audiovisual heritage.

Despite its historical and cultural significance, this precious heritage still lacks an adequate legal framework and the necessary resources to meet the challenges ahead. Your support is therefore essential to ensure the continuation of this mission.

By supporting the United Music Foundation, you contribute directly to:

  • Preserving recordings at risk of disappearing,
  • Maintaining and acquiring technical equipment adapted to the most complex media,
  • Restoring and enhancing invaluable sound treasures,
  • Encouraging research into innovative solutions to retrieve content from unplayable media.

You can support our mission in several ways:

  • Through donations or legacies, to strengthen the continuity of our work,
  • By funding a specific project.

Your contribution can also be highlighted through dedicated projects bearing your name or that of your organization.

Beyond tax benefits, every contribution directly supports the preservation of recorded musical heritage.
